Cut the inoculant with tighter tolerances and higher specificity

The production of high-stress castings places high demands on inoculation technology and the use of inoculants. With a new generation of cutting inoculants, the company offers an improved solution, which is characterized by tighter tolerances and higher specificity.

GERMALLOY C is used to improve the sphericity of graphite and optimize the mechanical properties of castings. Using OPTIGRAN C, the continuous caster obtains finer and more evenly distributed Type A graphite in gray cast iron.

Mold inoculation is to add the inoculant as late as possible, so it is also an inoculation method to minimize the effect of fading. This is especially important for the production of thick-walled parts. In mold inoculation, the inoculant is introduced into the pouring basin or directly into the pouring system of the mold. Therefore, during the entire pouring time, dissolution occurs directly in the iron with the removal of air. Mold inoculation blocks such as GERMALLOY C and OPTIGRAN C should be used for mold inoculation first, otherwise there is a risk of undissolved inoculation particles flowing in, which will have a negative impact on the casting structure.

Continuous castings with a normal wall thickness of 5 to 50 mm can solidify in a few seconds to a few minutes in the production of castings, while the crystallization of thick-walled heavy castings with a wall thickness of more than 60 mm may take several hours, depending on the casting temperature. The constant inoculation effect provided by GERMALLOY C and OPTIGRAN C is important for good casting results. The machined surface guarantees a good and even dissolution into the casting.

Due to the tight tolerance manufacturing process, the inoculant has high size, contour and weight accuracy, so it is also suitable for robot-assisted processing and automatic mold insertion.

The size of the inoculation is selected in such a way that the existing core marker can usually be used unchanged as a placeholder for the inoculation insert.

For larger requirements, it can also deviate from the standard size within a certain limit.
